watercolor cards supporting Naples animal shelters

Few things are more uplifting than receiving an old-fashioned handwritten card—and it’s even better when that card supports Naples shelter pets! Enter Oakley Says Hi, a line of watercolor greeting cards inspired by a rescue dog named Oakley.

Found as a lonely and scared stray, Oakley was rescued by a Naples animal shelter, which gave him a second chance and helped him find his forever family with Ginger Moxam, co-founder of Naples media company WAVE creative.

Ginger and Corbett de Giacomo, WAVE’s other co-founder, worked with artist Kyra Wells to design the cards, which are available for purchase in their online shop. A portion of proceeds from each card goes toward donations to Naples animal shelters, including Humane Society Naples. New designs are being added regularly.

artist Kyra Wells

Born and raised on Cape Cod, Kyra Wells has been pursuing design since the early days of sandcastles on the beach. She graduated with a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019 and is now working as a freelance designer and illustrator in Boston. She specializes in watercolor illustration, working with clients and businesses to create personalized pieces to celebrate their unique story.

ON HER CONNECTION TO NAPLES:

I’ve gotten to spend a lot of time in Naples since my father lives in Olde Naples. I’ve always been inspired by the bright colors, kind people and easy way of life. It’s such a great community, and I’m lucky to have been commissioned to paint so much of its beautiful buildings and beaches.

ON HER LOVE FOR ANIMALS:

I’ve always loved animals. When I was a kid I would take my earnings from lemonade stands and buy toys for the local animal shelter on Cape Cod, so this project with WAVE was such a perfect fit and is so needed, especially right now!

EDITOR’S NOTE:

Kyra has also created her own collection of greeting cards featuring watercolor paintings of a variety of iconic Naples spots, including the Naples Pier, Tin City, Historic Palm Cottage and more, which are available to purchase at Bad Ass Coffee on Third Street South in downtown Naples.
