While the rest of the country gripes about the umpteenth snowstorm of the season, on a recent Thursday, I cheerfully traded one beachy resort town for the next, hopping a flight to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, for a little getaway with my dear friend Cori Sue of Bitches Who Brunch. Our destination was the all-inclusive Paradisus La Perla, where we were more than happy to sink into an alternate reality in which ceviche and cerveza regularly show up to your poolside cabana, your personal butler Armando orchestrates photo shoots of you on flamingo pool floats (#bloggerlife), and you stroll across boardwalks through the jungle on the way to dinner.

Cori Sue wrote a fantastic review of the resort, or check out my abbreviated Instagram roundup right here (and if you’re not already following @thenewnaples on Instagram, do it!):

The resort is built around several little ponds that are home to koi, turtles and cool sculptures. Totally Insta-worthy.

Secret garden or the spa? (It’s the spa.)

The most beautiful boardwalk to the beach.

These cute creatures live in the trees at the resort. They’re called coatis, and they’re similar to raccoons!

Swim-up bars abound.

Said pool float shoot was a bit of a fail. Do you know how hard it is to drive one of these things?

Basically survived on ceviche, chips and beer for the whole trip. Not mad about it.
Until next time, Mexico!
