Dining: Best Tacos in Naples

There are some days when nothing but tacos will do. Sometimes, it goes further than that—only fish tacos will do, or only tacos with a vat of queso on the side will do. We’ve tried just about every kind of taco you can find in Southwest Florida, and we’re sharing our favorite tacos in Naples to satisfy every type of craving.

WHEN ONLY NO-FRILLS, AUTHENTIC TACOS WILL DO

TAQUERIA SAN JULIAN

We’re not even entirely sure we want to share this information lest it makes it even harder for us to find a table. During weekday lunch, they’re filled with either guys in suits or those covered in grass and paint—a sure sign of a universally great spot. Tucked away in a tiny building on Bayshore Drive, you could almost pass Taqueria San Julian by, if not for the tacos—they’re authentic, fantastic and only $1.50 each.

WHEN ONLY ORGANIC, LOCALLY SOURCED TACOS WILL DO

TURCO TACO

The newest addition to the Naples taco scene, Turco Taco serves up gourmet tacos, salads and quesadillas made with only high-quality, antibiotic- and hormone-free meat and locally sourced produce in a casual, quick setting. Vegetarians, you’re in luck, too—they offer several veggie options, including the Vegetales taco: julienne-cut veggies, avocado mousse, pickled onion, roasted pepitas, queso fresco and yoga crema in a soft corn tortilla.

WHEN ONLY TACOS SERVED WITH MARGARITAS IN MASON JARS WILL DO

TACOS & TEQUILA CANTINA

There’s a taco for all tastes at T&T, including the Cheeseburger Taco, spicy Buffalo Taco and sweet pulled pork Backyard Taco. Choose from an extensive list of margaritas (served in a Mason jar!) to round out your food fiesta. Don’t have to go to work tomorrow? Try the T&T Trio Bandito flight: three tacos of your choice and three shots of their featured tequila for $30.

WHEN ONLY TACOS AT A SUPER DISCOUNT WILL DO

THE BEVY

Happy hour is great. Happy hour with tacos? BETTER. From 3-6 p.m. every day, The Bevy serves up gourmet tacos for $4 (choose from Barbacoa beef, carnitas or pork belly) and $4 draft beers. If you’re extra hungry, don’t skip the cilantro lime hummus with tostones—one of the best apps around.

WHEN ONLY ONE-OF-A-KIND TACOS WILL DO

THE LOCAL

The Local is one of those places where you can try everything on the menu and love it all. The blackened fish tacos are no exception; they’re served with cabbage, avocado-citrus creme fraiche, cilantro, pico de Gallo, and corn and black beans for a truly fresh, Floridian take on tacos.
