Happy Cinco de Mayo! If you’re like us, you’re counting the hours until the margaritas start flowing. Here are some spots around town to celebrate:
7th Avenue Social
What better day to kick off Taco Tuesday? Sip spicy Chili Devil and Micheladas beers for $6, shoot tequila with the best of them and bring your best guacamole recipe for judging from 6-7 p.m. The winner of the Guac Off will receive a $100 gift card to 7th Avenue Social and a margarita gift pack. (Second place gets a prize, too—and everybody gets guacamole. Win, win, win!)
Agave Bar & Grill
They take their Cinco celebration seriously at Agave, with $5 beers and margaritas on the patio all day, live music from 5-9 p.m. and a free drawing tequila lovers will drool over—a bottle of 1800 Coleccion limited edition tequila valued at $2,500.
No need to choose just one type of taco—Avenue 5 has a bunch to choose from all day today. Pairs perfectly with a $5 marg, of course.
So what if this is a traditionally Italian spot? We’re willing to bet they’ve got some mean tequila cocktails up their sleeves. They’ll start serving Mexican-inspired small plates, including carnitas tacos and flank steak tostado, at 5 p.m.
Sample a special Cinco de Mayo menu with drink specials and live music by ODAS from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Tacos & Tequila Cantina
Happy hour strikes twice today, from noon to 2 p.m. at the bar and 4-6 p.m. They’re serving up half-priced Bud Light and Corona Light on draft, house sangria and single well drinks, as well as bucket specials. Plus, stick around for a bit—The Good Bad Kids are in the house (err, casa?) from 6-10 p.m.
Or if you’d rather celebrate at home, Chipotle answered all our guacamole prayers yesterday by releasing their own recipe to the masses online. So go forth and enjoy—and never pay extra for your Chipotle guac again.
