One of the best things about living in paradise is the opportunity for staycations on a whim. Recently, Jesse and I packed our swimsuits and sunglasses and headed to the beautiful Edgewater Beach Hotel in Naples, FL, for a little weekend getaway. It was only a few miles from home, but it felt miles from home—without the hassle of a plane ride or other difficult logistics.
Though it’s been around for more than 30 years, the Edgewater Beach Hotel still feels like somewhat of a hidden gem in Naples. Situated right on seven miles of prime beachfront, it features 125 modern suites (each with a kitchen and private balcony), two Gulf-front swimming pools surrounded by palm trees, a poolside bar, an amazing restaurant with equally amazing views—all with a relaxed yet elegant vibe. It’s also just minutes from Old Naples and offers a cute electric trolley that shuttles guests back and forth.
The suites at Edgewater Beach Hotel truly feel like a home away from home. Each is equipped with a living area, kitchen with full-sized refrigerators and Keurig coffee makers, dining area and a private balcony with views of the beach, pool or local neighborhood. Also notable: Pets are welcome, a rare find in a Naples beachfront hotel.
BEACH & POOLS
EAT & DRINK
Wow, did we eat well on this staycation! At the resort restaurant, Coast, you can opt to sit inside with views of the pool and Gulf or dine on the outdoor veranda. Their specialty is global-inspired coastal cuisine, and they definitely do it right. The Reflections Pool Bar offers light fare from the Coast kitchen and delicious signature cocktails, which is perfect for lunch poolside.
We also took advantage of their in-room dining options. After a day on the beach, the Charcuterie Board—the most impressive one I’ve ever seen, hands down—and a bottle of chilled fumé blanc hit the spot perfectly. And on Sunday morning, we highly recommend ordering a brunch basket for delivery to your room. Set it up on your private balcony, and dig in! Shrimp cocktail, fresh fruit, veggies and hummus, and (of course) a couple of mimosas…
What to order at Coast: Togarashi Charred Tuna and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes at dinner; Traditional New England Lobster Roll and blackened Fish Tacos at lunch; frozen watermelon margarita and traditional mojito at the pool bar
Wellness is a big priority at Edgewater Beach Hotel. Their Coast restaurant is Blue Zones Project-approved, and they offer a special Be Well menu with healthier options that make it easy to choose wisely. (The Togarashi Charred Tuna mentioned above is included!) There’s nothing better than starting your morning with a chilled, freshly blended green juice by the pool.
New at the resort is their Be Well program, a selection of wellbeing opportunities created in tandem with local experts and intended to help travelers feel their best while away from home. The new program features a wellness vacation package, with options including private beach yoga, daily kayaking or paddle boarding, an in-suite massage, a range of aromatherapy mists and more.
Remember how I mentioned that one of the best things about living in Southwest Florida is access to great staycations? The Edgewater Beach Hotel in Naples makes that even easier with its membership option. By becoming a member, local residents can enjoy the resort’s private beach, fitness center and classes, and Gulfside swimming pools, as well as member events and dining and suite discounts, all year round.
