The New Naples: Turtles on the Town
“The Journey” by Phil Fisher at Naples Zoo

A different kind of loggerhead sea turtle has come to nest in Collier County this season. Instead of burrowing in the sand, these four-foot-tall, 75-pound turtles are scattered around town—everywhere from the Naples Pier to Mercato—in Naples’ newest public art exhibition to benefit three local charities: the Community Foundation of Collier County, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida and the United Arts Council of Collier County.

Each of the 50 turtles has been uniquely embellished by a local artist and will remain on display through February 2016. (This interactive map shows where you can find each one.) After that, they’ll be up for grabs at a Gala Auction on March 9 under the tent at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida Nature Center.
